Rosamond Gifford Zoo’s Hofmann Dog Haus Opens
SYRACUSE, NY, July 18, 2022 — The Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo announces the official ribbon cutting and naming of the new Hofmann Dog Haus, formerly the Courtyard Café, on Friday, July 22 at 10 a.m.
Hofmann Sausage Company – a Central New York favorite – has been handcrafting hot dogs and sausages in Syracuse, New York since 1879, and has now partnered with Friends of the Zoo to offer guests popular treats such as hotdogs and condiments along with pretzels, ice cream treats and beverages.
“Hofmann is proud to be the Official Hot Dog of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo, a hometown favorite company supporting the hometown’s favorite zoo,” said Ron Tomacchio, Hofmann Sausage Company’s Chief Operating Officer. “We are committed to our community and in partnership with the zoo to bring exceptional food to visitors and Hofmann fans.”
The Hofmann Dog Haus is centrally located in the zoo’s courtyard – surrounded by picnic tables, benches, and shade trees – with views of Primate Park and the waterfowl pond that is home to a flamboyance of Chilean flamingos.
“We are incredibly excited to bring a community favorite to the zoo for our guests to enjoy,” said Friends Executive Director Carrie Large. “Our goal is to bring together the very best our community has to offer and make it available for our guests – many visiting us from Buffalo, Rochester and Albany and beyond – right here at the zoo. We are proud to partner with Hofmann, a highly regarded regional and national treasure. As always, the proceeds go to benefit the animals under our care and conservation education.
The Hofmann Dog Haus is open daily 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. To learn more about the Rosamond Gifford Zoo, visit rosamondgiffordzoo.org.
